Rerouting Wanderlust In The AE

6 Secret Beaches in the UAE

Summer is here, ladies and gents. And if you’re familiar with the turf, you are very much aware of everything that comes with this season. Harsh, unforgiving heat and humidity to make relocating to the Arctic seem like a perfectly reasonable reaction.

One thing that helps us beat the heat, is cooling down at the beach. Dubai is known for its clear blue shores and sandy beaches so if you’re like us and like your beaches with less foot traffic and noise pollution, check this list out for some less well-known ones around the UAE.

1. Hidden cove at Kite Beach (Dubai)

Who would’ve thought that just a hop, skip and a jump away from Kite Beach, one of the most popular beaches in Dubai, is a little paradise beach cove that you can have all to yourself.

You will have to put in a little bit of effort to climb over the stacks of rocks to reach this little pocket of sand. Timing is crucial as you may find the beach covered with water at high tide. As always, we’ve found the best spots are always the ones that require more effort to find.

2. Al Rams Beach (Ras Al Khaimah)

All you offroaders are going to love driving down the few kilometers of island beach sand to see all that Al Rams has to offer.

Although this beach island does get busy during the peak winter season, it is relatively free during summer. Keep in mind, beach rules are strictly governed by the patrolling police so we suggest you abide by them to avoid some hefty fines.

3. Khor Fakkan Heart Beach (Fujairah)

You don’t want to miss out on this beach, and definitely one of our favorite finds.

It is just a quick dirt road away from the popular Khor Fakkan main beach with a hiking trail to a beautiful cliff viewpoint and Sai Beach.

4. Saadiyat Beach (Abu Dhabi)

Technically Saadiyat beach, but not really. Further down from the popular Abu Dhabi beach and resort area, this spot is less crowded, clean and easily accessible.

5. Mirfa Beach (Abu Dhabi)

Mirfa has a long shoreline open to the public and is mostly untouched. The main beach of this small city in Abu Dhabi is relatively empty even at peak times. So you can expect the beach spot we picked out to be your own plot of land when you go.

6. Ruwais Beach (Abu Dhabi)

An alternative to the beaches too close to civilization is the Ruwais Beach in Abu Dhabi. It’s not too far off and open to the public compared to the popular but now restricted Shuweihat Island.

A downside of this beach however, is that it can be quite messy with beach-goers littering with no regard for the environment or other people. Unfortunately cigarette butts, plastic bags, bottles, etc. have become a norm for UAE beach litter.

We try to clean up as much as we can to make the beach a little better for the people who come after us, and we encourage you to do the same.
